Something someone told me about myself that I never forgot – 30 Day Writing Challenge #2

‘Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much’ – Blaise Pascal

Day 2 of the 30 Day Writing Challenge that Steph and I have embarked on and I’m struggling already! I usually love a bit of self reflection but very little is coming to mind regarding things someone has said to me about myself that I will never forget. Actually that’s a lie, I can remember lots of nasty character assessments people have given me and never forgotten but I’m guessing that’s not the point of this exercise.

I can also remember lots of words of wisdom and advice I’ve been given over the years but again I’m guessing that’s not the point either, because they’re not about me. So, the only thing that’s remotely springing to mind is my beautiful wedding and the speech my very lovely husband made day 2 years ago.

Wedding speeches are unique things, we know how much we love our nearest and dearest, and we have a pretty good indication that they love us too, but it’s very rare you get the chance to stand up in front of all your friends and family exactly how much you love them. As the bride, I was in the unique position whereby I had lots of lovely things said about me, but didn’t have to say anything back – a dream scenario for an attention seeker like me haha!

Anyway, needless to say, for someone who is quite introverted and keeps his cards to his chest, he excelled himself with his speech which was both funny and touching and I bawled my eyes out. They are words, that no matter what little spats we may have had since, I will never, ever forget.
He’s been kind enough to allow me to post an exerpt of the speech here:

He’s canny really isn’t he?!
