Write About a Random Image – 30 Day Writing Challenge #25

My dream is to have a house on the beach, even just a little shack somewhere so I can wake up, have coffee, look at dolphins, be quiet and breathe the air’ – Christina Applegate

Today’s challenge – Think of a word, search for it on google images. Write something ispired by the 11th image

These challenges are getting more and more obscure as time goes on! I couldn’t think of a random word so I asked Dave who said Barnacle. This is the 11th image when you search for barnacle on google images:

Obviously when i think about barnacles the first thing I think about is the beach, and I love the beach. We’re lucky, we only live about 10 minutes away from a beach. We’re unlucky though in that that beach in is the North East of England and there’s probably one day a year when it’s beach whether and the best of the country seem to have decided to go as well. Beaches near us aren’t very good for rock pooling so there aren’t many chances to see any barnacles round our way. I remember when I was in middle school there was a school trip to Newbiggin in Northumberland to look at the cobles and limpets on the beach (i’m presuming there were some barnacles there too!) but I broke my collar bone doing a handstand in the back garden so never went. I’m not entirely sure I’ve ever even seen a barnacle in real life. I’m sure they’re lovely though.

So, inspired by the humble barnacle and the fact they’re usually found on beaches or the bottom of ships, here are some beach or boat related pictures from my past where I may or may not have been in close proximity to a barnacle:
