The Longsands have now released their hotly anticipated new single Standing in the Shadows and only only ruddy brilliant isn’t it?! I’m not just saying that, I promise. The single is the 1st off the new (as yet untitled) second album and comes off the back of the massively successful Meet me in Spanish City.  They are of course already established with a loyal fanbase and their debut garnered rave reviews from fans and the music press alike with BBC2’s Bob Harris dubbing it ‘one of his favourite albums of 2012’.

Although their previous success may seem like a tough challenge to replicate, this new release marks the boys sounding at the absolute top of their game. Starting acoustically with fantastically powerful vocals from start to finish before the rest of the band kicks in with heavy aggressive drum beats, and fiery guitar band makes for an anthemic first single!

Since taking off in 2009 The Longsands, originally from sleepy Cramlington in Northumberland, have gone from strength to strength; recording an acoustic session with ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2, beating off competition from The Cribbs, The Charlatans and Badly Drawn Boy to win BBC Radio Manchester’s Band of the Festival at the city’s Friends of Mine Festival. More recently The Longsands released ‘Tomorrow We Vote’ as a free teaser to coincide with the 2015 general election and supported the Scottish giants Big Country at their sell out Newcastle show in June this year.
The new single is available to download from iTunes here it will be 99p well sepnt!
