2015 in Pictures

Photos are a great memory-prompt, and because we tend to take photos of happy occasions, they weight our memories to the good’ – Gretchen Rubin
Even before smart phones made it possible to carry your phone, camera, ipod and laptop all in one device in your handbag I still used to take my camera out with me everywhere I went. I’ve always loved taking pictures, I had albums and albums worth of snaps I would take on nights out. Of course now you don’t have to wait 2 weeks for them to get developed in Boots and if someone happens to have their eyes shut you can just delete it and try again. And I don’t even need  to mention the wonders of Instagram filters and Samsung beauty face!
The thing I like about looking back on old photographs is that it inadvertently forces you to remember the good things that have happened, a picture says that in that moment, you were happy, that moment was important to you so you wanted to capture it. Because let’s be honest, no one ever takes pictures of the bad stuff. As 2015 draws to a close, instead of writing a summary of the year, what went well, what didn’t go so well and my hopes and dreams for 2016, I thought I would share my favourite pictures of the year. After all, it’s much healthier to look on the positives that have happened rather than dwell on the negative:
