The 2016 US Presidential Election

Wow. What a week eh? I’ll be perfectly honest I was in two minds about this weeks US Presidential Election. I wanted with all my heart and soul for Hillary to win, for the first black president to be followed by the first female president. I know she wasn’t perfect but she was a million miles away from the racist, sexist, bigoted reality TV douchewaffle Trump. However before we went to sleep on Tuesday night i said to said to Dave ‘I have this horrible feeling we’re going to wake up tomorrow morning and Tina (radio 1 newsreader) is going to tell us Donald Trump is president’. After Brexit and the Great British Bake Off moving to channel 4, nothing surprised me anymore.

And then what happened happened and we all had our say about it at work, on Facebook and with friends over the following couple of days. But what did it feel like to be a bonafide, real life American who has to live in the mess of the follow through of a massive Trump?

He expected to ride the wave of a “rigged election” to announce Trump TV. And he never thought he’d have to answer to them because he didn’t think it would go this far. What happens when his ass can’t cash the check his mouth wrote?

1:32pm – 11 Nov 2016 – I’ve been on a Phil Collins kick all week. His voice is like a blanket for a worried mind.

One can only imagine that there were less people that voted in this election than the last, that neither candidate was up to the job so they just didn’t bother, which is a shame. There’s too many people getting their information from Facebook in my opinion. The people you’re friends with on Facebook are most likely to have similar political views to you, so they’re going to share and post the articles that support their cause, so you’re not really getting the full picture to formulate an informed decision.

But you know what? That’s democracy. More people wanted Trump as president and that’s exactly what they got.
