It’s that time of year again isn’t it? As soon as halloween rolls around and the Haribo has all been dished out (or in our case give to the the three neighbouring kids then scoffed ourselves) It’s time to start thinking abut Christmas. And in recent years, there are two things that have had a resurgence around Christmas time; Christmas jumpers, and advent calendars.
The year before last I had the Boots No7 advent calendar which I treated myself to when they emailed me and offered it to me for £10 cheaper ahead of it going on general sale. I liked it, but it left me with a lot of products I wouldn’t ever normally buy and didn’t actually ever use, and the plastic usage of the whole thing stressed me out a little bit.
Last year, I did things a little differently, I bought the Ted Baker advent calendar in the Boxing Day Sale for £15 instead of £45 and opened it all at once. And what a joyous 15 minutes that was!
It contained:
- 1x Peony Spritz Moisturising Sheet Mask 25g
- 1x Floral Bliss Moisturising Sheet Mask 25g
- 1x Floral Bliss Hand Cream 50ml
- 1x Opulent Crush In-Shower Body Lotion 50ml
- 1x Opulent Crush Body Wash 50ml
- 1x Floral Bliss Moisturising Under Eye Masks 5g
- 1x Midnight Bloom Shimmer Body Wash 200ml
- 1x Peony Spritz Body Lotion 50ml
- 1x Peony Spritz Body Wash 50ml
- 1x Floral Bliss Eau De Toilette 10ml
- 1x Floral Bliss Body Souffle 50ml
- 1x Floral Bliss Body Spray 50ml
- 1x Eyeshadow Trio Palette 3x 3.4g
- 1x Nude Lip Balm 1.1 g
- 1x Opulent Crush Bubble Bath 50ml
- 1x Cuticle Oil 8ml
- 1x Floral Bliss Dry Shampoo 30ml
- 1x Eyelash Curlers
- 1x Eyeshadow Brush
- 1x Mini Nail File
- 1x Zipped Pouch
- 1x Eye Mask
- 1x Tweezers
- 1x Hair Scrunchies
And I can honestly say I’ve found pretty much everything really useful. I’m a Ted Baker fan anyway, have been for years and have always used their body wash and lotion (the Peony Spritz being a particular favourite) and the fact that there is a good mix of travel sized and full sized items. I’ve saved the travel items for when we’re able to travel again (in a couple of weeks in our case!) and the full sized items have saved me having to buy them separately.
I’m well versed in Ted Baker clothes and toiletries but I’ve never used the make up range so the mini eye shadow pallet, make up brush, eyelash curlers and tweezers are a great addition and again really good quality. I feel like a decent pair of tweezers are the holy grail of beauty tools and these ones are really good.
Environment wise, obviously all the products are plastic, which isn’t great, but we seem a long way off before the world is completely plastic free, but the calendar itself is all little cardboard drawers, which is better than the Boots one, which had plastic backing in the calendar itself
Now my biggest quandary. I really want this years calendar again, especially since they’ve rebranded all their scents so will be a completely different set of products. But, do I shell out the £45 to guarantee I get one, or risk waiting until the Boxing Day sale again and get one super cheap, if there’s any left? What ever the answer is, it’s one to be made after pay day for sure.
