Review: Suite by Aspire lounge at Newcastle International Airport

*Our visit was complimentary however all views are my own

By now you all know my obsession with an airport lounge and how perfect they are for starting your holiday off right. Of course it always depends of what time your flight is as to whether you can really bet best use out of it, and thankfully on our most recently holiday to Ibiza, we were flying at 6pm so it was the perfect opportunity to get some food and drinks to keep us going meaning we didn’t have to buy anything on the plane.

What was even more special about this lounge was that we were in the brand, spanking new, adults only Suite by Aspire and the facelift that the lounge has recently been under was absolutely worth the wait! We were greeted straight away and shown to our seat with lovely views of over the runway and plenty of natural light.

Drinks are all self serve and you can have anything from a cup of coffee to wine, beer, premium spirits and prosecco. There is some food you can also help yourself to like a vegetarian pasta and some curry alone with cheese and biscuits and some cakes but if you want something substantial then there’s an a la carte menu and that’s where this lounge really comes into its own. I opted for the ham hock terrine and Dave has the club sandwich both of which came with some salad and crisps. We then followed it up with some dessert and I have to say the chocolate and orange torte I had is better than most puddings I’ve paid for in a restaurant recently.

Obviously the all inclusive drinks are always a draw for us an we had some beers, a gin & tonic and a couple of glasses of wine but there’s also plenty of soft drink options as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The atmosphere was really nice and chilled out, there were enough people there to give it some atmosphere but not too many that it felt crowded and the staff were beyond lovely; making sure we had everything we needed, clearing away any empty classes and chatting to us about where we were off to without being intrusive.

There’s plenty of little pockets of areas to sit so if you’re there on business, there’s little private booths you can sit in to concentrate, and almost every table was near a power outlet to make sure your phone is all juiced up ready to watch Geordie Shore on the plane (perhaps that’s just me).

The only thing missing for me is a little bit of music but I understand that people need to be able to hear the announcements and if there’s some good 80s tunes being pumped through the lounge you’re at real risk of forgetting you’re at an airport and missing your flight entirely.

In terms of kicking off our holiday right, we’re absolutely sold on the new Suite and will be booking in pretty much whenever we travel from Newcastle going forward!

The Suite by Aspire at Newcastle Airport is £59.99 per person and you’re able to gain access 3 hours before your flight time. Book your access here.
